Posted on: 28/05/2021A message from Mr NationJudging by the weather, you wouldn't think it was May and that we are entering our final term of 2020-2021! Summer 1 at Buckland St. Mary has been a busy and productive term. The team has worked relentlessly and the school continues to go from strength to strength. It never ceases to amaze me how your children live out our Vision and Values. They show such kindness, consideration and empathy towards others. It’s an absolute delight to work with each and every one of them. This week, I spent time talking to the children about their work in ‘Discovery Lessons’ (Geography, History, Art, Design and Technology etc). The standard of work, their ability to articulate their learning and passion they demonstrated was fantastic. The school has worked hard to implement a curriculum based on experiences and discovery following the consultation sessions we held with parents, staff and pupils two years ago. Despite a turbulent two years, the staff have endeavoured to improve the curriculum offer for your children and they have certainly delivered! Our Collective Worship sessions have continued to focus on ‘equality’ and ‘diversity’. The children have demonstrated great empathy and understanding. They realise the importance of ‘acceptance’ in such a diverse world and have shown great maturity when discussing these matters. I hope you all have a lovely half term.
